The strip club in a double-wide that G-Pek has been bragging about is not a myth. I've seen it with my own eyes, shit, I've gone dumb on top of a rental in the parking lot of that place, bumpin' 2 Live Crew's "S&M" on 11. What he didn't tell you is that the double-wide connects to the brothel next door thru a filthy underground corridor that joins the two buildings. Fuckin' Carson City. I spent like five bucks total in that dump (I'm very particular about my ones). Thanks for the drinks Mammal, and thanks for getting us kicked out of every spot we went to that night. I ended up in Carson City, in a shitkicker bar, ripping rhymes into a plastic mic over what seemed to be the same PA they used on MASH to hyphy beats for like 4 Surrenos and their girlfriends, while Mammal thru flimsy metal bar stools around, and the Asian bartender said he went to high school with Conceit. it was a trip. And that was the night before the show!
The next day we went to the BBQ in Reno at the Record St. Cafe where Stacks Malone (the homey who brought us out there) was displaying his art. Topr tackled the barbequed chicken and we rocked to the sounds of Ernie from Who Cares? on the mic and 1 and 2 simultaneous, he got his Edan on, doin' old school fast rap, he was even rockin Cazals... I couldn't think of anything better to listen to. Z-Man showed up in gig-mode like he was done vacationing, and the Mayor and the First Lady also came thru to show love. Opio and Lex from Hiero were in the spot chillin, and so were Stacks and fam and his boy DJ Casey. i also saw Prototype from the Gurp City Chico click in the house. From there me, G-PEk, mammal, and Topr went back to the mo to get warmed up.
The show rocked to say the very least. G-pek held it down for the three of us Gurp Citizens (a total of 1:30 hours of cutting fresh over and over again) .Topr went on first then proceeded to get blind drunk and tell everybody that he was a fucking LEGEND, and that bitches shouldn't eyeball him 'cause they didn't have a chance. My old homie Fon-douglas from the original Sacred Hoop crew was in the place out of nowhere (was in town to do some fly-fishing saw the flyer and came by!), so it was hella fun for me to do songs that he cut on and helped make from back in the day like Panhandle and No Category, and it was cool for me to get to the part in When I'm Broke where I saw his name and actually have him there. I miss you homie, the shit was never the same after you left... Also in the house was Doug Surreal, leader of the Motel Crew, who has recently relocated to the Reno area. The girl he brought instantly fell in love with Z-man when he did his Michael Jackson move and started rappin about Goapele and young Sade and all that shit, Doug had to embarrassingly pry her from Z's bicep by the end of the third song when Z was doing his riverdance thing... Opio rocked too, with a bottle of Belvedere in his clutches the whole time and hollerin about legalizing weed, the new songs he did off his new shit are slaps, better than Tajai or Casual's latests efforts by far, cop that shit, rellish! Topr ended up bombing the entire alley that the club was in with fill-ins, throwups and tags of everybody's name not just his own (Mayor and first lady got some fresh flicks of this), while Op and I burnt a wet paper bag blunt next to the parking garage. Ended up drunk in a Casino at 4 am talking to opio about people we mutually knew in palo alto, basically jocking him and drinking shots of patron, when i come to find out that that fucker's two years younger than I am! He's only 33! Then basically the rest of the trip i felt hungover and old. But Gurp City dropped a bomb on that place, and all respect to opio, but Z-man shoulda headlined, 'cause he stole the show and had all the fine girls fans from since one block has been out there a handful of times. Gurp City shows up the night before, does a show that isn't booked, eats all the bbq, rocks the show, bombs the town, gets a total of 7 hours sleep for the 36 hours we're out there, and gets lectured by a cop for giving a kid on the street that we saw at the bbq cds from out our trunk... it went like this "What are you doing with that kid?" "We just saw him at the cafe and we want to give him our cds, we're in town to..." "You can't do that here" and then he just drove away... don't worry gurpos, that kid knew who the good guys were!
One last thing: Everybody should know that Reno is where it's at... It's like the Bay in the seventies, laid back, cheap land, and scummy to death; perfect destination for a gurp exodus to end up... beside where else could you be walking past bright ass casino lights and a hyphy ass girl is yelling, "West oakland, Bitch, I see you 415," in your ear cuz you got a sco fitted on, and then she's droppin it for every muscle car on twenties that creeps up rockin a droop e beat... Vegas is LA, Reno's for the Bay!
P.S. Be on the lookout for the limited edition Stacks Malone designed Sacred Hoop "Chicks Pack Heat" T-shirts featuring Jessica Alba with a gat in her drawers! y'all need to hit Stacks up, your boy is on some shit...
